Both pedal very well: I tried a Kona Coiler and a Giant VT3, and they both bob much more despite having 2" less travel. Iron Horse licenses the Specialized linkage and they look almost the same.

I agree that fit is important, but for better or worse I was only looking at bikes that were on sale.I can get the Big Hit for $1420 and the SGS for $1350 (both + tax). I did read that post earlier and wondered how much was outdated since it was written in 2004. Thanks DarthBobby for your comments and link. At 18" it feels like the right size and I can't wait to get out again! The guy at the LBS was trying to get me to buy the RM Element 10 which is about 400.00 more (after discounts) but the Fusion feels great. I took the RM on a test ride yesterday with the Boston chapter of NEMBA and I had a blast! Thanks to the people on the ride who made me feel welcome inspte of being new and some of them took time to explain and teach me stuff which made a huge difference! The guy at the LBS and everything I read said that it was better to buy the RM because of the better compnents and frame and that the IH was heavy, sluggish and not as well suited to a beginner. smd3 I did know from mbtr forums that IH was in bankruptcy so that was an issue. Rock Shox® Dart 2 fork with lock out and blow-off mechanism for unforeseen impacts and obstacles Size-specific tubing so ride quality remains consistent throughout the size range Sloping Top-Tube Geometry for quick steering, better handling and greater pedaling efficiency Interestingly I could not find the Fusion on Rocky Mountain's 2008 website! They only have the IH in a 17" and the Fusion in 18". I'm also wondering if I'd be better off getting something cheaper for now - they have a Scott Aspect 55 for 380.00 I'm going to go back and try them again but would appreciate your input for/against. I know the RM Fusion has better components and is lighter that the 6.0 and that IH is going bankrupt. I rode both in the parking lot and wanted to like the Fusion but the 6.0 seemed like a better fit. The 2 bikes I'm looking at are the Rocky Mountain Fusion and the Iron Horse Warrior 6.0 from my LBS who has them on sale. I'm 5' 10", 160 lbs, 43 y/o and my budget is about 500-600 and I could go a little higher, around 700.00 if I had to. Anyway I'm looking to get into the sport and my intended use is for off road only ie I wont be using it on a road. I have been biking for a long time but have very little MTB experience. Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and would appreciate your opinions and advice.
